yes it is true, i love the ocean blue, met with sand and a tiny shell in my hand...

this is our backyard. we are truly blessed. we love it here, so it's a win/win.

{No. 23} School

for lots of reasons; i inherently have a love for learning...
but mostly it's for the silence - a tranquil respite for this mother of 3, finally school has started!
i can't believe i have a high school freshman!

and with the start of school comes my favorite:
school supplies!

i love taking the kids back to school shopping because i get to stock my office
with fun and colorful supplies while they are stocking their backpacks :)

{No. 22} School Lunch Ideas

school starts next week for us and i am looking forward to enjoying the silence :)
i love my kids, but this mama needs a little break every now and then.

when it comes to their lunches i fall into the habit of throwing in a bag of chips, juice box, an apple,
and a string cheese (they won't eat a conventional sandwich). not the best, really.

i love being inspired by these fun school lunch ideas. and they are so much better...

{No. 21} She Reads Truth

now that i have gotten into the habit of daily bible study i am really loving She Reads Truth.
it takes a discipline to do things that aren't attached to a due date, paycheck, appointment, etc. i have learned to look at these things from the right perspective, it's me time, it's coffee or tea time, it's a wonderful way to wake up... once i got started i really couldn't stay away. its truly an addiction :)

i hope you can stop by She Reads Truth for a moment to take a look around and dive in right where you are. the beauty of it being online is you can start any time and go at your own pace :)

lately i've had this little fantasy of working in a bookstore that brews delicious coffee and has cozy reading chairs. it's decorated in deep colors with lots of velvet and heavy curtains. there's brick, a cat or two, and thousands of delicious books. sigh. i don't know if i would get any work done unless sitting in a cozy chair with a perfect cup of coffee reading everything is a paid position!

i think a good book is like a friend, beautiful in many ways and i am happy to see it and can't wait to hear what it has to say. i'm familiar with the characters and their quirks, so i become involved, invested in this "relationship".

it's like therapy, there are so many people broken in many different ways - the human condition. the book is there for you whenever you want to open it. it calms me at the end of the day - a harmless addiction.

for the record i am a hardcover reader, not an e-reader. i read one book on a nook and it's just not me. i love feeling the pages in my hand, physically seeing my progress, smelling the paper, and holding it's weight. i love walking into libraries and book stores and beholding the array of spines and vast amount of volumes - it's like being surrounded by love to me.

{No. 17} Inspiration for your normal sized closet

we bought a place at the beach. i have a husband who happens to be in an industry where he receives a lot of clothes and shoes, and needs these items at his disposal. he gets the only closet in our new room. i get to build one for me! well, i get to customize and design it and we have a carpenter doing the real labor that i refuse to do (probably for good reason).

most closet makeovers seem to be for a closet the size of a master bedroom. while our room is the size of one of those closets here are some original ideas for modest sized closets...

i am looking forward to my new closet. i picked up rubbermaid's homefree closet system plus lots of fun add-ons from lowes last weekend.

{No. 15} ikea throw pillows

i recently made a trip to ikea to pick up some goodies for our new house!
i grabbed several fun throw pillows for our couch and chair and a half to give our living room a fresh new look. look for my before and after pics on lollipops next month!
